For most people in the Financial Independence Retire Early (FIRE) community, retiring early is less about never working again and more about having the options and freedom to live the life of your dreams without being dependent on a paycheck. The FIRE movement paints a different picture of retirement and it is one of the reasons that I made reaching FIRE one of my biggest life goals.

In this solo episode, I’m explaining the What, Why & How of the FIRE movement. What it actually is, Why everyone should be on the journey to Financial Independence and How to achieve it.

In this episode I discuss:

  • What FIRE means
  • How I first discovered it and what first attracted me to the movement
  • What FI (Financial Independence) means
  • What RE (Retiring Early) means
  • Why FIRE?
  • Why everyone should be on the path to FIRE
  • How it gives you more options & happiness
  • The How of FIRE
  • How to reach Financial Independence
  • The formula (increasing income, decreasing expenses and creating good habits)
  • Improving your mindset
  • Celebrating your wins and enjoying the journey

At the end of the podcast, I also talk about the waitlist to the soft launch of my monthly membership program. Get monthly tips, tools, and classes to help you launch to Financial Freedom. Click here to sign up and be the first to be notified when the doors open in Summer/Fall 2018.

  1. Hello Jamila, my name is Colette and tomorrow I will be 58 years old with MS. I am totally self sufficient. One daughter age, 26 and beautiful! I wanted to say Thank You. I have been listening since podcast 39 and you have given me some positive tools for changing my financial situation. I learned through listening that I had an addiction to spending. Not to the point of negativity on payments, I just maxed out my credit. I was in denial about this addiction for some years and Thanks be to God, He sent me Angels like you and Vicki Robin. I am so Grateful for all that you do! I wish that I had enough time to tell you more. The basics are: Thank You for all that you do young Lady. I am a Retired disabled Veteran of the US Army that has a way to help my only income grow! Ep. 53 was and is the icing on the cake. You described me to a tea! I Love people who care! You are one of those! I’m sorry that I couldn’t attend your recent show in NY. Also the episode you did with Mr. Sabatier was so enlightening! I believe that there were a chain of events that took place afer I met Dr. Eric Patrick on Twitter 2 0r 3 years ago but, I was still in denial. So Grateful that I have awakened and can change things. I just saw that I could talk to you through WordPress! I just set up an account recently with WP! I Love technology! I went to Drexel for Elec. Eng. and dropped out. I still have skills though! I shall keep in touch Jamila. I need to get my credit score back up to 765. I was there this past Jan. and then acted like a zombie…a shopping zombie! Its not funny but, it is what it is! I have started fixing things! I have also started investing with Acorns and Stash as well as learning from Bigger Pockets! You have some very interesting and diverse people on your podcasts and I find that to be very helpful because it shows that anyone can change their life, finances, thinking and all for the Better! Free too! I’d be fool not to recognize now! No more denial for me. Yes, I have changed my health habits as well. That I started 5 years ago! One of these days you just may be interviewing me for your podcast! You never know! Many Blessings young Lady! Many Blessings to you and yours’! Speaking of Blessings, How is tht newborn doing?I am @Love_6061 on Twitter: @carelivelove on IG and Periscope is the same as Twitter. I am also on WhatsUp for my daughter! I came off of FB for now.
